Lilongwe hosted motor show: Malawi car exhibition

Lilongwe Motor Show Ltd in partnership with Umodzi Park hosted the inaugural car exhibition at The Malawi Square, the magnificent car park at Umodzi Park and Conventions Centre in Lilongwe.

According to the organizers, the event was organized in order to have an interactive filled show which will spur the Motor Industry in Malawi to be vibrant by engaging in hands on marketing and product demonstrations.

“The Show attracted various car dealers in Malawi. The display and exhibition categories include; Sports cars, Passenger Cars, Motorcycles, Auto Shop, Accessories and performance. We had made the exhibition so diverse so that we accommodated various players of the motor industry other than Car Dealers only.

“In order to facilitate further networking and dialogue between our exhibitors and their various potential clientele, the show ended in a post-exhibit cocktail mixer with all exhibitors, sponsors and other key stakeholders of the automotive industry present.

“The cocktail event was served as an award ceremony to exhibitors who won in various categories including; Best new Car, Best exhibitor, and Best non-automobile service/product,” explained Chiza Gondwe, Lilongwe Motor Show Ltd Assistant Director.

He further added that the aim of the show was to play an integral role in the automotive business sector in Malawi by providing a huge platform of consumers at one event. The theme for the business-to-business component of the show was “Driving Malawi to the Future”.

“We understand that most players in the industry are striving to get their products to the consumer; we are therefore offering a diverse market of consumers in one place at this exciting Motor Show.

“We are appealing to corporate companies to support our initiative as we had produced the first of its kind Outdoor Auto Show in Lilongwe. This was a local initiative, we appeal for local support as we take our country to greater heights. We have the ability to turn things around in this country if we support and promote each other,” Gondwe said.
